The food of Indonesia is therefore influenced by a number of countries including China, India, Middle-East, Portugal, Spain and The Netherlands. For that reason the Indonesian cuisine is an very important part of the Dutch culture. The partaking of a "Rijsttafel" is kind of a ritual. One takes a serving-spoon ful of rice and puts it in the middle of hers/his plate. Then she/he drapes the dishes around the rice. With every bite of rice she/he takes a little of each dish. This will benefit the taste.
